ELLEN BATCHELDER
CALDWELL OFFICE
Ellen was born and raised on the Texas Gulf Coast. She grew up on her parent's cotton farm in Palacios, TX. By watching and learning from her grandpa, granny, and dad, Ellen came to appreciate agriculture from a producer's point of view. To further her education, Ellen decided to pursue a degree in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University in College Station, where she graduated in 2005. After graduation, she decided that one degree wasn't enough, so she went to Sam Houston State University to earn a Masters of Science degree in Agriculture with a special emphasis on agribusiness and agricultural policy. She graduated with her MS in December of 2006.
Most of Ellen's career focus has been to help farmers. During the summer, you would usually see her out working in a cotton field scouting for bugs, doing university research, or running a module builder. In the fall of 2004 Ellen had the opportunity to go to Washington, DC through the Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy Internship at Texas A&M University. There, she got to see first hand how agricultural policy is debated and formed. To better apply her skills, Ellen has recently attended a women's marketing conference, traveled to the Hurley & Associates main office in Charleston, MO, and visited the FCStone office in Kansas City. She is enjoying the opportunity to apply her education in a way that helps families like hers.
Ellen joined the Southwest Agribusiness Consulting, Inc. team in February of 2007 to run the hedge desk. Just about any trade that is made company wide runs across her desk. If you have any questions for Ellen, she can be reached at:
